$2,500 — Personal statement and three supplemental essays, from first draft through submission.
Service Description
The essay is the one part of the application your student fully controls. The transcript already says what they did. This says who they are. Most students do not need someone to fix their writing. They need someone who is not their parent to read it honestly and ask the right question at the right time. That is most of what this is. How it works I work in the student's own document, in Google Docs, leaving line comments as drafts develop. After each round I send written questions for each prompt — not edits, questions, because the answers have to come from them. Three rounds is the floor. I have never stopped at a number while a draft still needed work. What's included Personal Statement From choosing a prompt through final revision. We start with what the student actually has to say rather than with what sounds impressive, which is the mistake that produces most weak essays. Three Supplemental Essays Full support on three college-specific supplements. The "why this school" answers require real research — naming a professor, a program, a course. Generic answers are obvious to the reader and they hurt. Written Feedback After Every Round Guiding questions for each prompt, so the student knows what to do next rather than just what was wrong. Timeline Management Supplement deadlines by school, so nothing surfaces three days before it is due. What's not included Students applying to eight or ten schools will need more than three supplements. Additional essays are priced separately and agreed before the work starts, never after. I do not write essays. Colleges ask students to affirm the work is their own, and admissions readers can tell. What arrives in the application has to be the student's — that is not a limitation of this service, it is the whole point of it. When to start The summer before senior year is the right window. A good essay takes several rounds, not one weekend. I work with students who start in September and October too, and it can still go well, but it is a harder fall for everyone. Initial consultations are free and virtual. If your student mostly needs a deadline and a reader, I will tell you that.
